Dead Sea

Typically, salt is thought to dry out hair and skin-and in most cases, that assumption is correct. For example, after going in the ocean, your skin usually feels tight and your hair feels dry. However, the Dead Sea, located in Israel with 8.6 times more salt than any other ocean, does the exact opposite. The air and the water are filled with rich, beneficial minerals. The article explains,“The minerals of the Dead Sea are hydroscopic, meaning they attract water, so when you put them on the skin, they act like a pump, drawing moisture and nutrients from the deeper levels of the skin up to the epidermis.” Dead Sea salt is rich in calcium, bromine, zinc, potassium and more. Try out Dead Sea products today!

Liquid Foundation vs. Powder Foundation

Liquid or Powder, which is better? Well, there isn't an exact answer to that question; really, it depends on your skin type. For the longest time, I used liquid foundation and I saw that my skin began to look greasy and shiny, overall, not my best. Then, I switched to powder foundation and it gave my skin more of a natural look. However, that does not apply to everyone; If you have oily skin, you should lean towards powder products, but if you have dry skin, try using liquid foundation. This website gives the pros and cons of both liquid and powder and explains how to choose and how to apply.

Soap vs. Body Wash

Many choose body wash over bar soap because they feel that bar soap dries their skin out. For those who don't like body wash, but don't want dry skin try these bar soaps for various types of skin. Whether you have dry, sensitive, dull, or acne-prone skin, this website provides the best bar soap for your skin type!

swirly

I came across this nail design awhile ago, so I decided to try it. Before, you decide to try it out MAKE SURE you give yourself a solid hour. Although marbled nails are a very messy process, the outcome is so cool, your nails will look amazing. What you will need is a glass of water, various nail polish colors and a tooth pick to begin. You put drops of the nail polish into the water, swirl them around with the tooth pick and dip your nail into the water. The nail polish will cover the entire top of your finger, but before cleaning it off, let the polish settle and dry and clean when you are completely finished with every nail. I recommend to use bright, different colors that are not in the same color category-don't worry they won't mix together!

Clean Face

Comstock/Thinkstock

At the end of the night, the last thing I want to deal with is taking off my makeup-but after reading this article, I realize it needs to be done. If left on your face, lip stick, mascara, eye liner, and all other makeup can lead to not only break-outs and cold sores, but serious diseases like conjunctivitis and E. Coli. It is completely worth it to take the extra two minutes before you go to bed to clean your makeup off.. no matter how tired you are!

Homemade

Here are some more homemade facial masks- you really can never go wrong with facials. Just make sure your not allergic to any of the ingredients! This website also offers skin peels as well. Skin peels cleanse your pores and eliminate any dead skin cells. Some skin peels chemically burn your skin, you can avoid that risk by using these recipes! Once again- they are cheap and easy to make.

Organix

Even after you wash and condition your hair, do you find your hair to still be dry and frizzy? Unfortunately I inherited my mothers genetics and ended up with super thin and dry hair. However, there are after shower hair products that really help to lock in moisture and keep your hair soft and hydrated throughout the day. Products made by Organix work to moisturize and heal your hair. I recommend the Moroccan Argan Oil Intensive Treatment or the Split End Mender. Their products work because they are made with out sulfate- salt that most hair products have that dry out your hair. These products are both affordable and effective.

Sun Protection

As you head down to the beach in 11 DAYS for memorial day weekend (try to control your excitement) and keep in mind that as annoying as it can be, suntan lotion is a must. Despite what some think, you can still get color while wearing lotion. Being out in the sun exposes your skin to two different types of rays: UVA rays and UVB rays. If over exposure to these rays occur, you can be at risk for premature aging, eye damage, and various skin cancers. Being outside, you are exposed to UVA rays year round, and scientists have found these rays to be much less damaging than UVB rays. In contrast, UVB rays attribute greatly to the risk of skin cancer. UVB rays are strongest from April to October from 10 AM to 4 PM, it is so important that you apply sun screen to protect yourself--or else you may end up regretting it in the future. My main concern with sun screen is whether or not it will make my skin oily and cause breakouts. This past year, I used Neutrogena Clear Face Liquid Lotion Sunblock SPF 30 and Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30 and it did not cause any breakouts, oily skin OR sunburn. You can also find other prouducts from Neutrogena for sun protection such as anti-aging lotion and sport sun tan lotion-- I highly recommend taking a look!

Estée Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Lotion SPF 15

Estée Lauder Idealist Dual-Action Refinishing Treatment

Today, were breaking away from the homemade facial, skin and hair remedies, and touching upon store-bought and brand name products. Although these products can be unnecessarily expensive, they are worth every penny in the end. Personally, I have used Estee Lauder skin products, and they have kept my skin under control, prevented breakouts, and kept my skin moisturized without making it oily. Prior to purchasing Estee Lauder facial products, I would use drug-store products that were so harsh on my face and badly dried it out. Once I began using Estee Lauder, my skin became more soft, less irritated, and my acne vanished. I recommend the Estee Lauder Sparkling Clean Purifying Mud Foam Cleanser, Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Lotion SPF 15, and Estee Lauder Idealist Dual-Action Refinishing Treatment.

Do you find yourself reapplying your mascara? High Lengths Mascara by Clinique is by FAR the best mascara I have used. I highly recommend purchasing this product-it is worth every penny, and I never have to reapply. So far, it has lasted me six months, and still works as well as it did when I purchased it. This mascara has a thin unique brush rather then the usual round brush, specifically elongating each lash, without any clumping.
